What is Live Coding?

Live coding (sometimes referred to as 'on-the-fly programming', 'just in time programming' and 'conversational programming') is a performing arts form and a creativity technique centred upon the writing of source code and the use of interactive programming in an improvised way (SOURCE: Wikipedia). In the context of our event, we'll be gathering those interested in working within the realm of live coding audio compositions.

Description

We'll be hosting a live coding get-together/meet-up/hang-out/jam at Electric Perfume! This event is meant to bring together those interested in learning about live coding and those who currently practice or dabble in one or more of the various languages used for live performance and algorithmic composition/creation (SuperCollider, TidalCycles, Gibber, SonicPI, PureData, MaxMSP, etc.) or pretty much any language on this list. The main focus is on the exchange of ideas, promotion of collaboration, organization of events, and jamming - so all creative disciplines are welcome!

This event is led by Ian Jarvis, who will also provide a brief primer of the language TidalCycles. For those interested please visit this link to install the software beforehand. At the end of the evening there will be an jam session. Don't want to make machine music? Don't worry, you can stay relax and comfortably listen! Participation is optional!

Suggested Cost: $10 or any amount by donation to help cover the costs of organizing the event.
